Introducing Violet Skies
Violet Skies may not be a new name to some of you, after all she has played on the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury, opened for Grammy Award winning A Great Big World and had her music play on Radio 1 by Huw Stephens and appeared on the sheets of NME. To cap off an incredible year for a relative unknown singer from little Chepstow in Wales.
Violet Skies has been relatively quiet since her debut material back in 2014. But the wait has been worth it. She is back with a brilliant new single Jealousy. Jealousy treads a think line between pop, RnB and EDM. Violet Skies voice is like caramel, smooth and soulful over a stripped back RnB bassline. It starts off slow and almost haunting but then kicks in with an almighty swipe with the chorus.
The track is definitely one based on personal experience from Violet Skies. It really explores the emotion she feels when she has experienced jealousy, an emotion that is hard to control and channel. This is what Violet said to us about the Jealousy
I’d never really experienced jealousy of this kind, it was a horrible, consuming feeling that was essentially my own insecurity manifested. I wrote this, dealt with my issues and it was a totally cathartic experience, getting it all out and not being ashamed of how I felt. We all feel it at some point.”
Jealousy captured me from the very first bar and I have no doubt that as long as the momentum can be built and maintained behind Violet Skies, she will be a stunning success.
