Wrong Club by The Ting Tings (Review)

The Ting Tings – Wrong Club

I absolutely LOVE this track. It’s an understated piece of genius full of a soulful disco vibe, an infectious rhythm and killer lyrics.

Wrong Club, The Ting Ting’s first single due for release 28th July which has yet to be titled. The band set up camp in the Ibizan hills to write the album and it looks like this kick starter of a tune has soaked up some of that Mediterranean heat and flavour.

It begins by easing the listener onto the dance floor then straight to the scene we can all relate to as we have all experienced it at some point, “what am I doing here?” Like with everything in life, there’s a shop for everyone as there is a club and taking that to another level, a life. When you reach that moment where you realise what the reason is for you feeling stale and drained it’s time to say “sod this, I’m off”, pack up and move on.

Wrong Club has depth and you can sense the stale taste in the mouth, the sadness at having to leave but at the same time the situation cannot be stomached any longer. I love the contrast in lyrics and warm upbeat disco beat it hands to the listener on a platter. It’s got a touch of that New York hustle mixed into it and you could just get lost in that pop funk rhythm.

As for those lyrics, they’re as honest as they come and a real palate cleanser.

Wrong Club by The Ting Tings should be a great summer hit.
