Review of Bastille new single Bad Blood

Back in September 2012 Musiceyz told you to keep your eyes and ears open for a new breakthrough

band called Bastille when we reviewed their then new single ‘Flaws (

)

This was a cracking video and track and my own personal favourite review of that year. Bastille went on as we know from strength to strength and went stratospheric with the success of ‘Pompeii’.

What a lot of new fans of the group did not know was that prior to ‘Pompeii’ and ‘FlawsBastille already had a bag full of brilliant tracks and these are being slowly released. ‘Of The Night’ was released last year and ‘Bad Blood’ (nearly 3 years old now) is being re-released on 2nd June.

Bastilles videos are always great and ‘Bad Blood’ is an early example of how to do this well thanks to the artistic energy of the bands leader Dan Smith. You can listen/ view the track here:

A great track with the usual unique vocals, the video is haunting with themes of death and not being able to let go.

Along with the ‘new’ single Bastille will also feature at many of this year’s festivals including headline slots at Parklife, Summer Series and Boardmasters. Full dates below;

BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend, Glasgow – 24th May 2014

The Parklife Weekender – 7th-8th June 2014

T In The Park – 11th-13 July 2014

Somerset House – 15th July 2014

Longitude Festival – 18th July 2014

Boardmasters – 6th-10th August 2014

V Festival – 16th -17th August 2014

Currently on their second sold out tour in the U.S, London four piece Bastille are also looking to be the next British success story in the States. Their debut single, ‘Pompeii’ charted in the Billboard Hot 100 at number 5 earlier this year and the band have sold over 3 million singles in the U.S alone. Their album ‘Bad Blood’ charted at number 11 last September, the highest charting debut album by any UK act last year and continues to climb the Billboard charts, scoring nearly half a million sales and taking worldwide sales to nearly two million.

Voted by U.S Radio listeners as one of the most anticipated acts at this year’s Coachella festival, the band played an energetic set to a jam-packed tent, with fans struggling to get in.

In the UK, Bastille won British Breakthrough Act at the Brits 2014 and ‘Bad Blood’ continues to be one of the biggest selling albums of 2014. The album has returned to the top spot twice in 2014 and has remained in the top 20 for the last 15 weeks.
