In 1997, Hip Hop lost one of its finest, cut off in his prime. Notorious B.I.G. aka Biggie, aka Biggie Smalls or real name Christopher George Latore Wallace, was shot in a drive by shooting on this day 17 years ago. His assailant to this day is still unknown. Biggie left behind his wife, singer Faith Evans and his three children.
For those that don’t know him, shame on you, but he is certified a legend of Hip Hop. He made his name down to his story telling ability, loose and passionate style to his flow. So much so that his double album Life After Death was released following his death and released number one. In 2000, Life After Death achieved Diamond status for sales, one of only a handful of hip hop albums to achieve such an accolade.
Biggie was also most known for his very public wrangles with Tupac.
We salute you Biggie, thank you for your brilliant creativity and amazing lyrical flow.
