Introducing Ariana and the Rose

Ariana and the Rose is a name that most of you will probably be unaware of.  However after listening to her EP Head Vs Heart, scheduled for a March release, we have a genuine feeling this might be about to change.  Whilst the act is called Ariana and the Rose, the undoubted star of the outfit is singer Ariana DiLorezno.  It will come as no surprise to you (with that surname) that Ariana is an Italian American New Yorker.  Yes, the same as Rocky, but that’s where the similarities end.

Introducing Ariana and the Rose

Ariana and the Rose are a refreshing Electro pop outfit.  They are distinct from most other acts in this genre though, they actually sing and play instruments.  That isn’t to say all electro pop is full of auto tune and synths, but Ariana‘s style shines through the packed genre, even though synths do feature.  Ariana is already making waves stateside having being asked to perform for the likes of Lady Gaga and Sir Paul McCartney.

When listening to her EP Head Vs Heart, its easy to see Ariana and the Rose are firmly entrenched in electro pop.  The term is usually interchanged with EDM, but that isn’t really a label that fits with Head Vs Heart.  Yes the tracks are danceable, but for me each track is pop with greater depth.  The composition is large and Ariana‘s voice is both melodic and enchanting.  Lead track In Your Bed is due to be released on 23 February and is a definite listen.

The biggest compliment we can give to Ariana is that her music is mainstream enough to command commercial appeal, yet her individuality shines through in what could be seen as two fingers up to conformity.  It could be argued that Ariana is delivering a knock-out blow to the genre (OK – we couldn’t help ourselves but to bring it back to the Rocky reference at the start).

Please check out Ariana and the Rose and let us know what you think.
