Review of Can’t Remember to Forget You by Shakira ft Rihanna
So its been a while since the last release from Shakira. Well the Hips Don’t Lie she really can release some banging pop with an edgy side that get us all going. Can’t Remember to Forget You is no different. The track is available on 25th March and is the first release from her forthcoming album.
If a new release from Shakira isn’t enough, she has only gone and enrolled Bajan songstress Rihanna to add her weight to the track. The result is a great mix of latin american music, bajan beats and a bit of steel drum with really upbeat party vocals. Whilst the excellent vocal ability of both Shakira and Rihanna shines through in quite an emotional delivery (particularly from Shakira) the bajan influence does add a bit of a party feel to the track.
No doubt, Can’t Remember to Forget You, is a song about relationships, where both women tell the tale of how they reminisce about past times in relationships. Whilst the lyrics have this sad story behind them, the track never goes down a soppy ballad route. For me this is a good pop number and we can’t wait for both the video and album to land.
A great return from Shakira, supported strongly by the amazing Rihanna.
