If god himself had written a song to ring walk to, then he would have written Mama Said Knock You Out by LL Cool J. The high octane hip hop track is an all out hip hop battle. 2. Get Your Freak On by Missy Elliott
One of the best boxing ring walks I remember was Lennox Lewis when he walked out for his world title fight. The rumbling at the start of the Missy Elliott’s Get Your Freak On, sent shivers through every individual in the arena. This was it, the massive sound that followed was perfect to help psyche up Lewis. Not an obvious track to accompany a heavyweight boxer, but it worked. “Silence, hush your mouth” kind of summed it all up though.
3. Crazy Baldheads by Bob Marley
This may seem like a strange choice to put in the list, however, Lennox Lewis pulled this off to perform one of the best ring walks ever. The slow, laidback Jamaican sounds from Bob Marley was perfect, the complete opposite of the usual high tempo tracks. This was all part of Lewis’ game plan to intimidate and complete disrespect Mike Tyson.
4. Time for Sum Aksion – Redman
Mike Tyson walked to the ring to Redman’s Time for Sum Aksion for this first fight following his release from prison. It was perfect as well. Obviously the title was perfect for him. The track is full of adrenalin and is manic throughout. This is a great ring walk song.
5. How I Could Just Kill A Man – Cypress Hill
Cypress Hill released some amazing tracks and How I Could Just Kill A Man was one of the best. Roberto Duran walked out to this on more than one occasion. It was a great track to walk out to in a full arena, played a huge volume the distinctive sound of Cypress Hill pierces through the crowd. The lyrics could almost be written for an element of intimidation pre brawl.
