Well Jaguar Skills is back with another album that demonstrates his prowess in picking a tune, his pretty large contacts list and great production and DJ ability.  This latest offering for Ministry of Sound ‘Jaguar Skills and His Amazing Friends Vol 2’ sends the listener on a massive journey through the musical spectrum of bass driven music.

From the dirty DnB of Noisia, Subfocus and Breakage; the slick deep house of Layo & Bushwacka and Aeroplane; the lethal vibrations of Modestep and Dirtyphonics; the electro rhythms of Jacques Lu Cont and Fake Blood; the thrilling Trap of DECiBEL and the Hip-Hop flavours of DJ YodaJaguar Skills delivers a melting pot of mash-ups that perhaps no other DJ can deliver. Obviously, House influences feature more significantly than ever before.

The compilation packs in 39 tunes mixed in to 18 tracks, dealt with by Jaguar Skills with a killer instinct, picking the bets bits of some of the heaviest club tunes at the current time.  The album provides listeners with a flavour of why club goers who have experienced Jaguar Skills live sets rate him so highly, not just in the UK, but the world over.

Personal favourites for me on the album include ‘No Fucking About Pt 2’ which features ‘Grit’ by Danny Byrd ft Roni Size and ‘Nothing Matters’ by Mark Knight ft Skin.  I also really like the Hip Hop enthused ‘I Keep It Gully‘.  This one features Wretch 32, DJ Yoda and M.O.P. among others.  It seems unfair to highlight any tracks (but that’s the job) as the whole album is tight.

For me, Jaguar Skills has done wonders with this compilation.  His eye for a tune was definitely in, when he put this together and ‘Jaguar Skills and His Amazing Friends Vol 2‘ represents his finest body of recorded music to date.  I am not normally a fan of these compilation type albums, but Jaguar Skills breaks the mould and brings it home.
