Soft by Feathers (Review)

Review of Soft by Feathers

‘Soft’ by Feathers shows shades of 80s synth pop, but more on the tip of a darker Depeche Mode.  And thank goodness this track isn’t accompanied by a ‘lets be 80s’ make over style video, instead they’ve kept it simple through the strength of the song and haunting vocal.

Review of Soft by Feathers

Already getting support on some of the cooler specialist radio shows in the UK, Feathers are surely a band to keep a watchful eye on.  For starters, they’re an all female band from Austin,Texas (yes you heard right) and are made up of  vocalist Anastasia Dimou, bassist Courtney Voss and keyboardist Kathleen Carmichael.  And with SXSW only on their doorstep, it was of course inevitable the girls were to perform several shows, including actually opening for Depeche Mode!

Soft‘ definitely isn’t the most obvious sound to come out of Austin, Texas and that’s probably why they will do extremely well. They are touring the UK in May (see details below) and I for one wouldn’t mind going to check this band out, as well as their forthcoming album release ‘If All Now Here’ on 27th May.
