Lets Push Things Forward by Sonic Boom Six (Review)

Review of Lets Push Things Forward by Sonic Boom Six

Manchester’s finest urban rock band have released a new video ‘Lets Push Things Forward’, a cover of The Streets classic and B-side to current single. Directed by Gregory Nolan for Xtra Mile TV.
Sonic Boom Six’s version of The Streets’ ‘Let’s Push Things Forward’ is The Boom’s homage to the influence that Mike Skinner had on the band, both from a musical and lyrical standpoint. Unveiled on Sonic Boom 6’s headline album tour, the track was met with an ecstatic response from the crowds so SB6 took the opportunity to record the song in the studio as a B-Side for their ‘Keep On Believing’ single. ‘Keep on Believing’ is released as a digital download through Xtra Mile Recordings. You may recall that we reviewed this great rock track back in January.

‘Lets Push Things Forward’ is an improved version of The Streets classic with a fresh twist and neat updating of the lyrics (anyone spot a dig at The Artic Monkeys in there?). What the band seem to do with all their tracks is to push in that extra bit of energy that sets them apart from the flock of also- rans out there.

Having just completed a UK tour Sonic Boom Six are set for a summer of festivals including Download, Hit The Deck, Radstock and Takedown Festival. If you can’t wait to see this tribe in action check out them headling in London at a one-off show, 1st May at The Underworld.

Have a look at the video and listen to the track.  Tell us what you think? Have Sonic Boom Six made good of one The Streets most well known tracks or have they murdered a Mike Skinner classic? Add a comment below, tweet @MusicEyz or post to Music Eyz Facebook page.
