Review of ‘Big Body Chick’ and ‘Going Ham’ by Summer Azul
Today, I’m gonna review two tracks for ya! I know, you are lucky readers aren’t ya! Do I get paid twice
for doing two reviews? No, no I don’t. But I’m not in this for the money, I’m in it for the women. And as
soon as that starts paying off, you’ll all be the first to know. Anyway, enough of my mindless rambling.
Summer Azul, aka The Mixtape Queen, lyrically, is a beast! I’ve been sent two tracks from the Indian/
French Creole rapper, who was born in the US. She’s got a fantastic accent, American but with a
twang. It’s a gravelly voice that makes her sound angry and aggressive. So is it any surprise she’s
done a remix to Jay-Z & Kanye’s “H.A.M”. It’s hard, but not shouty. It’s how the bad guys in the
movies talk, controlled but you know they could murder you. I’m sure Summer’s too nice for that at
Summer has numerous personalities though, and her AzulArmy follow her every move on twitter and
her actions around the world. Starting to feel like we’ve got another Nicki Minaj on our hands? I am. Is
that a bad thing? No. Nicki hits the very commercial side now, despite her origins as Nicki tha Ninja.
She’s the person 12 year old girls will have on their walls in their bedroom. Summer feels like the
grown up version, despite being so young. In fact, we might have another Lil Kim on our hands.
Summer’s latest radio hit is “Big Body Chick”. It’s a nice slowed down track, I can feel this one in the
clubs. Summer is living in Atlanta, and this definitely has a dirty south feel to it. I just want Ludacris or
someone to jump over it and give it a different sound. It feels like it needs a feature to give it a bit of
freshness through the song. Still, another cool track from Summer.
Let us know what you think of Summer Azul, check out her YouTube channel , make sure you check out the video for her “Tupac’s Back” remix. That’s hot.
