Olympics Closing Ceremony Line-up Leaked

Olympics Closing Ceremony Line-up Leaked

Unless you have failed to notice, the Olympics are coming to London and the rest of the UK.  The countdown has changed from being spoken about in years to days.  It is that close! The organisation has obviously gone according to plan, apart from that little bit around the security, oh and David Beckham not being selected, almost forgot, the venues not being sold out and the lovely weather this summer.  Apart from that it has all gone really well.

That was all said with a little bit of tongue in cheek, however, something else hasn’t quite gone to plan.  The set list and line-ups of acts for the showpiece closing ceremony appear to have been leaked.  Whilst nobody would categorically confirm whether the list was true, it does offer a good hint and is another cause for embarassment.

Big names featured in the document include The Who, Take That and George Michael, reports the Daily Mail. Queen, Jessie J, Ed Sheeran, Ray Davies and Russell Brand are also among the stars alleged to be performing at the two-hour-long event, which will take place on 12 August.

Russel Brand sounds a little out of place in the list.  Obviously he could be presenting at the ceremony but other rumours suggest he will be covering ‘I am the Walrus’ by The Beatles.  He is also alleged to be teaming up with fellow comediennes French and Saunders to cover ‘Pretty Vacant’ by the Sex Pistols.  That smacks of a charity single.

There will also be a line-up of models – led by Kate Moss – to showcase the best of British fashion.

A spokesperson for Locog, the London 2012 organising committee said “We won’t comment, we want the line-up to be a surprise.”

Obviously with prices for tickets ranging from £655 to £1,500, its no wonder the event is still to sell out.  Don’t think we will be making it to that one.
