Review of Orange Circle by Alex Kelly
There were two main reasons for setting up Music Eyz. The first was to provide fans a real fans view to what was going on in the music scene. The second to help profile new music that may not get a chance on some of the more traditional music press and sites.
So it was great to get a chance to have a listen to the new single ‘Orange Circle’ the title track from New York born singer Alex Kelly‘s first full length album.
This track struggles to fit in to any traditional genres. Which is a good thing. It has sassy pop lyrics, delivered brilliantly by Alex Kelly. You could be forgiven for thinking this was a track used by the likes of Cheryl Cole or Girls Aloud. Then you get a rock tinge, with some great guitar rifts that lift the track from some of its run of the mill competition. If that wasn’t enough you then add the drums, which provide a constant beat.
The song really demonstrates personality in character from Alex. The break from the main flow, shows Alex break in to a kind of rock/rap segway which is repeated later in the track. Don’t worry, she isn’t trying to be a hardcore rapper or even a Cher Lloyd wannabee, lyrics such as “8 o’clock, cherry lolly pops” highlight the fun element to the track and Alex.
‘Orange Circle’ by Alex Kelly is a great track, with something in it for most music fans. It has all the ingredients to be a potential backdrop to the summer. I would urge you all to take a listen when the track is released and follow Alex Kelly on Twitter. Welcome her to the UK and buy the single and maybe the album too.
