Kate Nash UK Tour Dates Announced
Hackney born Kate Nash is returning to the UK, after spending some time writing and recording songs for her third album. As part of her homecoming, Kate has announced a series of live dates to show off her new material.
Whilst in the US her time hasn’t been solely reserved for music, she also has two acting roles in feature films later this year. She has also had a small part in a horror movie which can still be found across the web.
Last year, shocked by the lack of British female songwriters (only 14% of songwriters in the UK that receive PRS are women), she launched Kate Nash‘s Rock n Roll for Girls After-School Music Club as a platform to inspire teenage girls to start songwriting and making their own music. Nash is also one of the founders, along with Billy Bragg and Blur’s Dave Rowntree, of the Featured Artists Coalition, which provides a voice for artists at a time of dramatic change in the music business.
Signed to Island Records (part of Def Jam) Kate Nash obviously needs no introduction. Her two albums to date have done well. ‘Made of Bricks’ which was sadly leaked on file-sharing sites prior to its release reached number one in the UK album charts, despite a less than positive review from music powerhouse and boring newspaper The Independent, who dubbed it “definitely in pole position for worse album of the year.” The chart success kind of slapped them in the face.
In 2010, Nash released ‘My Best Friend is You’ which had a real ecclectic arrangements of sounds. Ranging from Motown to No Wave. A great album which is still in the charts some two years later in a variety of countries, including the US and Germany.
